Background:
Paola Parra Harris recently won a 2-day trial for a mother who was falsely accused of parental alienation by her child’s father and a biased Guardian Ad Litem. The parties’ 16-year-old son wanted no contact with the father due to the son’s allegations of abuse and also witnessing his father’s abuse of his mother. The father wanted the son sent to a camp in New York to be “cured” of his “parental alienation” through some suspect, unapproved program, and to have no contact with the mother for 90 days.
Result:
The father’s claims were found to be contrary to evidence that Parra Harris put forth by the child’s counselors, independent psychologist, and court-appointed reunification therapist. As a result, the court found no parental alienation, discharged the Guardian Ad Litem, and the mother was awarded ultimate decision-making authority for the son’s health and education.
